Joy Comes In The Mourning

To Vicki: Your sparkling blue eyes and radiant smile could light up any room and capture a heart in an instant. Your outer beauty was matched only by the depth of your inner beauty. You left this world far too soon—or at least it feels that way to me—but you will always be loved, forever missed, and never forgotten.

Since Vicki’s passing on October 7, 2015, I have dedicated a blog post each year to honor her life, her legacy, and her love.

This year will be a little different. Instead of a blog post, I am releasing a book in her memory: Joy Comes in the Mourning: Finding Hope in the Hallway.

This book unfolds in two parts. The first shares my observations as Vicki faced her cancer diagnosis and walked through a three-and-a-half-year journey marked by fierce faith and an unrelenting fight—strength beyond anything I had ever witnessed.

The second part is my own story: the path I traveled after her passing. From the depths of depression, devastation, and desolation, I slowly found renewal, restoration, and reconciliation—both with my faith in God and with the courage to dream again.

On a road I didn’t choose, I found a God I didn’t know.

I invite you to journey with me through the shadows of loss, longing, and lament, and into the light of renewal, resilience, and redemption.

This book is a gentle reminder that even after sorrow’s silence, hope can sing again.

The book is available on Amazon and wherever books are sold.

  2. She was or should I say is one of a kind. I will never forget her. I could never forget either of you. I can’t even begin to imagine what you have been through. I can honestly say that this is a great way to honor the life she lived. She’s still reaching people through your willingness to share your story. Thank you. Carrie
